The sixth working meeting
of specialists - members of the Project Expert Group – was held in Kaliningrad.

The fifth working meeting
of the Project experts was held in the settlement of Rybachy (NP
"Kurshskaya Kosa"). Russia and Lithuania were engaged in clarifying
the program of the Project overview seminar; approved lists of participants and
experts making reports and presentations; discussed a number of technical issues
related to transport and excursion services to be provided to the seminar
participants. |
Project Consultant on
environment protection and sustainable development, V.P. Bogachev made a report
"Environmental assessment of the National Park "Kurshskaya
Kosa". The report examines the
current environmental situation in the Park with a focus on the problems
impeding the development of cycling in its territory. Review of the current
situation was made on the basis of an integrated ecosystem approach, taking
into account the interaction between ecosystems of the Spit and the Curonian
Gulf. Based on an analysis of cause-effect connection of degradation of the
National Park "Kurshskaya Kosa" ecosystems, a "tree" of
problems was made, allowing the TACIS project participants to formulate
coherent goals and to develop further major activities in their achievement. |
The fourth working
meeting of the Project experts took place in Nida (Lithuania). They discussed
issues regarding the timing of Project activities, taking into account the term
of contract signing and receipt by the Main partner of the funds for the Project
realization. It was decided to hold an overview seminar of the Project in the
settlement of Yuodkrante (Neringa, Lithuania) in July 9-11 2007. |
The third working meeting
of the Project experts was held in Kaliningrad. The meeting discussed issues
related to the need to open foreign currency account for the NP
"Kurshskaya Kosa", on the territory of which all the major activities
of the Project will be implemented. |
The second working
meeting of the Project experts was held in Nida (Lithuania). They discussed
issues related to the Project realization in accordance with the requirements
of the contract with the European Union. It was decided to approve the size and
composition of cross-border Project management group and expert group. During the working
meeting a formal allocation of funds for the Project between Lithuania and
Russia was made, as well as approval of the size and composition of
cross-border Project management group and expert group. |
The first working meeting
of the Project experts was held in Kaliningrad. At the meeting they were
informed about the decision of the Delegation of the European Commission in
Russia to sign a contract for the Project realization with the main partner of
the Project - Municipality of Neringa. Issues related to the
preparation of the necessary documentation for signing the contract and
creation of a working group of the Project management were discussed. It was
decided to hold a meeting with Lithuanian colleagues for signing contracts,
conclusion of agreements and creation of cross-border working and expert groups
of the Project. |
By the
corresponding order of the National Park "Kurshskaya Kosa", Lyudmila
Melnikova, a specialist of the Department of Tourism, Recreation and
Environmental Education, was appointed to the office of the Project Coordinator
on behalf of Russia according to the letter of the main partner – Municipality
of Neringa (letter dated January 15, 2007 No. 4/16 V 15-124). |
The Joint
Technical Secretariat of the INTERREG programme reported with letter dated
October 27, 2006 on approving the project "Establishment a border bicycle
route at the old post road on the Curonian Spit - EUROVELO-BALTIKA",
submitted for examination to the secretariat in July 2006. |
