The Project "EUROVELO-BALTIKA" was presented and discussed in Svetlogorsk town at a conference for partners of the EU TACIS Programme “Neighborhood: Lithuania, Poland and the Kaliningrad region of the RF”. Presentation was made by Lyudmila Melnikova, Project Coordinator from the Russian side.

The eleventh working meeting of the Project experts was held in Nida (Lithuania). Russia and Lithuania continued operations in preparation for the round table, planned under the Project in Zelenogradsk. Several issues relating to the European Commission procedures and attributed to the Project implementation and accountability, in particular, presentation of reporting documentation, preparation of publisher’s agreements and requirements specification were also clarified.

The staff of the National Park "Kurshskaya Kosa", highly qualified forestry professionals worked at the choice of planned bicycle route. The work was conducted based on the experience of Lithuanian colleagues from the National Park "Kuršių Nerija".

 

In choosing the route ensuring interaction of environmental activities in different functional areas of the National Park with recreational, economic and research programs were taken into account.

Ease of planning the situation because of the natural configuration of the National Park identified the clarity of planning solutions. Historical planning system, which stipulates for the use and development of existing roads, cutting, playgrounds, and recreation, in the light of visits to places of interest for inspection and review, lies in its basis.

The outcome of the National Park experts’ work became two options of the bicycle route.

The tenth working meeting of the Project specialists took place in Nida (Lithuania). Russia and Lithuania, as a draft, discussed issues related to the organization of the round table on the exchange of experiences between Russian and Lithuanian experts, planned under the Project in Zelenogradsk.

Presentation of the Project "EUROVELO-BALTIKA" and its discussion was made in Gdansk (Poland) at the seminar on "Sustainable development of tourism - tourism and environmental protection". Presentation was made by Lyudmila Melnikova, Project Coordinator from the Russian side.

The ninth working meeting of the Project experts took place in Nida (Lithuania). They came to an agreement with the Lithuania on the forms of model and publisher’s agreements with the staff and outsourced Project experts.

Presentation of the Project "EUROVELO-BALTIKA" and its discussion was in the Museum of the NP "Kurshskaya Kosa" at the seminar "The Curonian Spit - Prospects for Development". Project Coordinator from Russia, Lyudmila Melnikova, made a presentation.

The seminar was attended by Head and representatives of the Administration of the NP "Kurshskaya Kosa", the Tourism Department of the Ministry of Industry of the Kaliningrad region, Tourism Industry Association of the Kaliningrad region, tourist centers and companies of the Kaliningrad region, interested persons. An article was published in the newspaper "Panorama poberezhja" (No. 15) about the results of the seminar.

The eighth working meeting of the Project specialists was held in Kaliningrad. Issues of execution of publisher’s agreements with the staff and outsourced Project experts, as well as their harmonization with the Lithuanian Project Coordinator, were discussed at the meeting.

The seventh working meeting of the Project specialists was held in Kaliningrad. The main item on the agenda was the conclusion of an agreement between the main partner on the Project (Municipality of Neringa) and Kaliningrad regional conservation and development fund of the NP "Kurshskaya Kosa", opening a currency account for the purposes of the Project instead of the NP "Kurshskaya Kosa". To ensure the monitoring of financial flows, it was decided to introduce into the Fund staff of the NP "Kurshskaya Kosa" a Project Coordinator Melnikova L.N. in the office of Deputy Director.

The Project overview seminar took place in the settlement of Yuodkrante (Neringa, Lithuania). Agreement on the implementation of international Project "Establishment of cross-border bicycle route along the old post road on the Curonian Spit: EUROVELO-BALTIKA" was signed at the seminar. The agreement was signed: on behalf of the TACIS Main (Responsible) partner (Administration of municipality of Neringa, Lithuania) by the head of the administration Mr. Algimantas Vyšniauskas; on behalf of the National Park "Kurshskaya Kosa" (Project Partner 1) by the Acting Director of the Park Mr. Yevgeny Snegirev; on behalf of the Ministry of Economy of the Kaliningrad region (Project Partner 2) by the Minister Felix Lapin; on behalf of the Administration of municipality "Zelenogradsk district" (Project Partner 3) by the Head of Administration Mr. Valery Gubarov.

Participants of the seminar got acquainted with the experience of construction of the bicycle route at the Lithuanian part of the Curonian Spit; heard the reports "On implementation of the EU projects in the Kaliningrad region" (Dmitry Ofitserov, Technical Secretariat of Interreg/TACIS projects in the Kaliningrad region), "The connection between the Project and the Tourism Development Programme in the Kaliningrad region in 2007 - 2011 years" (Elena Hrapovitskaya, Tourism Department of the Ministry of Economy of the Kaliningrad region Government), “Outlooks for tourism development in Zelenogradsk district of the Kaliningrad region. The urgency of the Project for the local administration" (Natalia Rodionova, Administration of the municipality "Zelenogradsk district "), "Prospects for cooperation of national parks on the Curonian Spit in the framework of international projects" (Gennady Teplyakov, NP "Kurshskaya Kosa"), "Preliminary analysis of the state of natural systems in the Russian part of the Curonian Spit for building a bicycle route: environmental problems and risks" (Vladimir Bogachev, Kanta RSU, Project Consultant for the environment protection and sustainable development), "Reconnaissance exploration for laying of the bicycle route in conditions of a functional zoning in the territory of the NP "Kurshskaya Kosa" (Alexander Klochko, NP "Kurshskaya Kosa").
